Would the world be better with or without smart phones? That’s a hard question to crack. On the one hand we’re a near constant people powered surveillance system that keeps track of any and all humans around us. On the other hand, we keep revealing weird public racists with that junk, so that’s nice. Now more people know about the super racism going on. Oh, plus we get to play Poke’mon Go. I think that’s good, right? In any case, wether or not smart phones made our culture better or worse is one question, but we can all agree on one thing — weird as heck old man lecturing luddite culture is very annoying!
Hence the “Not A Cell Phone In Sight” meme. Every Tweet contains the words “not a cell phone in sight. just living in the moment. absolutely beautiful, Wish we could go back” and was started — as so many things do on the internet in 2018 — with a sweet pic from Spongebob Squarepants of a crowd of fish. I haven’t watched Spongebob since I was a kid, did the fish eventually get smart phones? And were they fun things like buoys and junk?

In any case, the meme took off, giving us such cell phone free spaces as dinosaur fights, KK Slider/ Animal Crossing concerts, stills from the office, and other weird as hell images. Check out some of our favorites below.
