Family Of Aurora Shooting Victim Jessica Ghawi Starts Indiegogo Page For Scholarship Fund
Jessica Ghawi was among the 12 killed during the attack at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater, and her family, especially her brother Jordan, have been vocal about assuring the her life and the those of the 11 other victims are remembered and respected.
Ghawi was just beginning her career as a sports broadcaster, interning for a local sports radio station in Denver, and her aspirations as a broadcast journalist prompted her family to create the RedField Foundation, which is currently raising money via Indiegogo. Calling it the Official Jessica Redfield Sports Journalism Scholarship Fund, the plan is to raise at least $20,000, and so far the group has raised some $5,000. “Jessica was an avid blogger and tweeter, and we hope we can show how powerful social media can be during times of tragedy,” a description on the Indiegogo page reads.
