It has just been announced that Meryl Streep will play opera legend, Maria Callas, in the film adaption of Terrence McNally’s “Master Class” for HBO.

The Tony-winning play’s film version will be directed by Mike Nichols and follows a teacher at Juilliard in 1971.

This isn’t the first time Streep has worked with Nichols. They made “Silkwood,” “Heartburn,” “Postcards From The Edge” and “Angels In America” together. Streep also starred in HBO’s adaption of broadways play “August: Osage County” last year.

Filming for “Master Class” will being in January after Streep wraps up her other projects.
