The first teaser for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, AKA Pirates 5, has dropped, and it reveals the latest villain of the popular franchise: Javier Bardem. This comes after news that the film will hit theaters in 2017.
Javier Bardem plays a spooky ghost/zombie/something named Capitan Salazar. His crew is the same sort of unhuman, and they look different than Davy Jones’s zombie crew. It appears like Bardem’s hair is floating as in water, but he’s on dry land!
The other star of the teaser is a prisoner, who could be the son of Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), now the pirate queen, and Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), now Davy Jones’s replacement. Both stars are set to return for this film.
Salazar’s zombie quest is to find Jack Sparrow, and he warns the prisoner that death is coming for Sparrow. This is after Salazar and his crew kills the men aboard the ship keeping the young man prisoner. A weird black goo leaks from Salazar while delivering the message.
As for the main man Johnny Depp — he’s nowhere to be found, at least so far. Who knows what he’s been up to since On Stranger Tides?
