“We are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life.” These were the words coming from Viola Davis following her victory for Denzel Washington’s adaptation of August Wilson’s Fences. The speech that followed was very powerful as well, as it opined and waxed poetic about the luck and beauty of the arts and what the arts truly mean. The one profession that celebrates meaning.
It’s been a beautiful evening thus far at the Academy Awards in general, with a victory for Mahershala Ali’s supporting actor win for Moonlight being the first for a Muslim actor. But the Joker’s make up also won, so— Oh look! A cool tweet about Mahershala Ali.
