Virginia Native Starts Petition to Replace Confederate Statue with Missy Elliott
The conversation over Confederate statues reached a head recently following the riots in Charlottesville, with more and more cities either removing or being pressured to remove their statues of generals who fought for basically slavery. The Virginia town of Portsmouth is getting an exciting option however — replace their statue honoring a confederate soldier with a statue of Grammy award winning artist Missy Elliot.
