Josh Martinez Just Became the FIRST Latino to Win Big Brother

Big Brother season 19 has finally come to an end. Was veteran, Paul Abrahamian able to pull off the win this time around? Sadly, no. So, who did end up winning the $500,000?

The Miami-native’s win was definitely unexpected, and extremely significant to the show’s history. Martinez’s win makes him the FIRST Latino to win Big Brother.

But, how did we get to this point? The 2-hour finale kicked off with the final three — Christmas Abbott, Paul Abrahamian, and Josh Martinez — ready to battle it out for the last HOH of the summer. Josh ultimately won, and chose to take Paul with him to the final two — making Christmas the final houseguest to be evicted.

Before the winner was chosen, we had a chance to catch up with the jury — Cody, Elena, Mark, Matt, Jason, Raven, Alex, Kevin, and Christmas — and let me tell you… they were one bitter bunch. Elena even went on to admit, “I’m a bitter juror.” As someone who watched the entire season, I have one question: why were they all so salty? I mean, they basically let Paul control the house and play them ALL. Bet they regret not taking a shot at the veteran when they had the chance…

When it came time to vote, I must admit Paul had an exceptional speech. Josh, naturally, became extremely nervous and overwhelmed, but was still able to blurt out a little something convincing. Ultimately, the final vote came down to a TIE. Yes, you read that right. Raven, Matt, Kevin, and Christmas had voted for Paul and Mark, Elena, Jason, and Alex had voted for Josh.

Ultimately, the deciding vote came down to Cody — mind you, Cody despised Josh, but he also didn’t really have a good relationship with Paul. In the end, it was Cody’s vote that secured Josh the winner of Big Brother season 19.

Though Paul embraced Josh to congratulate him, you could definitely see he was heartbroken. He came second to Nicole Franzel in season 18, and played a nearly flawless game in season 19 all to come in second place AGAIN.

Oh, and you’ll never guess who won “America’s Favorite Houseguest.” CODY. Yes, Cody. The guy who shows no emotion and wants absolutely nothing to do with Big Brother. Quite an ending to one of the craziest summers we’ve seen in the Big Brother house.
