  • Jimmy Kimmel has somehow become the beating emotional heart of the country’s discourse. After discussing his son’s heart conditions and the connections to the greater healthcare debate — successfully directing it towards the keeping of the ACA, Kimmel has set out again to discuss an important issue which hit close to home. Jimmy Kimmel’s unlikely, but necessary, role as a moral guide continues as he discusses the shooting in Las Vegas, his hometown and location of the deadliest mass shooting in American history.

Through tears Kimmel, in a now viral clip, talks about those who died, and focuses on specifically the lax gun laws in our country — pointing out the senators and representatives who prize money from the NRA more than the lives of victims. Kimmel also points out that when an American buys a gun and kills other Americans, nothing is done. The clip is incredibly emotional, and Kimmel ends it while saying that he wishes he could keep doing a funny silly show, but the world stops him from doing so saying, “it feels like someone has opened up a window into hell”.

Kimmel continues to encourage you to hold the senators’ feet to the fire — specifically regarding a bill legalizing the sale of silencers coming to the floor — and encourages his viewers to help both Las Vegas and Puerto Rico by giving blood to the Red Cross and donating money at RedCross.org/abc.
