  • During a dark year, when someone who bragged about sexually assaulting women on tape got elected to the presidency, one beacon of hope has been the #MeToo movement. People were finally outing and punishing the harassers in Hollywood who so far include (deep breath) — Harvey Weinstein, Dustin Hoffman, Charlie Rose, Tavis Smiley, Matt Lauer, John Lassetter, Russell Simmons, Brett Ratner, Louis CK, Eddie Berganza of DC Comics, Garrison Keillor, Kevin Spacey, Bryan Singer, Al Franken, (the thankfully defeated) Roy Moore, Jeremy Piven, George Takei, Richard Dreyfuss, and probably like eight more people by the time this entry is published. So, to put it cartoonishly mildly, sexual harassment in Hollywood is a problem.

That is why women going to the Golden Globes — in a move reportedly organized by Meryl Streep to continue awareness of the issue at hand — are wearing black to the Golden Globes. The move has been met with some support, but also no small amount of push back, as some believe the act does not go far enough. Asia Argento, who herself has come forward about her assault by Weinstein, felt it does not go far enough.
