As part of the “Time’s Up” campaign, celebrities are calling out the century old Hollywood (and rest of the world) sexism — and it won’t always be pretty. The injustices inflicted on women in Hollywood go from everything from sexual assault to lack of equal pay — and Debra Messing called out E!’s lack of equal pay while being interviewed for the Golden Globes on the red carpet. The Will and Grace star said —
I was so shocked to hear that E! doesn’t believing in paying their female co-hosts the same as their male co-hosts.
It’s powerful stuff, and the necessity of not being polite about incredibly impolite economic injustices and sexist injustices is so important in this climate where politeness is used as a weapon against justice and fairness. Debra Messing, we salute you.
