“Lucas the Spider” is the Adorable Arachnid the Internet Needs

We gotta give a hand to Marcel the Shell with Shoes On — before Dean Fleischer Camp and Jenny Slate’s adorable stop motion cartoon, the concept of something adorable running away from the massive world around him with a sweet little child’s voice could be lost amongst the ten thousand videos of teens eating Tide Pods and such. But good news — this adorable thirty second video of a cute little spider running away from under a wine glass is rising up the ranks in YouTube’s view count.

The video is titled Lucas the Spider in “Captured” and follows the thirty-second exploit of a spider excitedly running away while shouting “escape.” It’s incredibly cute with his wide eyes, baby-like voice, and combination between live action and animation creating a beautiful effect. The video is animated by Joshua Slice, an animator who’s worked on Disney features such as Zootopia and Big Hero 6.

And look, we are into Lucas. This is what the Internet needs! Cute little spiders, (because they’re not all scary). Just look at this other short of Lucas talking about having too many eyeballs. Aww!

We love this, and we would like to make a demand to the Internet — more cute cartoons, please! Lucas the Spider and the now absent from our lives Marcel the Shell is just not enough.
