The Black Panther Premiere’s Fashion Was Royal and Glorious

Marvel’s incredible and much anticipated Black Panther movie is a glorious, afro-futuristic statement that is unapologetic in its intent and design. The film imagines Wakanda — Marvel’s fictional African nation that just happens to be the most advanced nation on Earth. The plot centers around the Wakandan king, T’Challa (the Black Panther himself) fighting the challenger to his throne, Erik Killmonger. It’s an epic Jack Kirby influenced tale of kings and royals, and thus the dress code for the premiere was described as “royal,” and the stars obliged. We see the movie’s stars — Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa), Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger) and Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia) all decked out in the greatest of wear, as they are joined by fellow black celebrities, including Donald Glover, Sterling K. Brown and many more. Even the director, Ryan Coogler, dressed in his royal greatest to celebrate this incredible film and amazing gem in his cinematic oeuvre.
