  • Kevin Smith, the Indie director best known for movies such as Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma and Chasing Amy — and for writing comics including, Daredevil: Guardian Devil — was rushed to the hospital following a heart attack that took place during a taping of his upcoming stand up special. The heart attack was a 100% blockage of his LAD artery, known as a “widowmaker,” because of high mortality rate it provides. Kevin Smith, however, thankfully recovered and documented the event on Twitter and Facebook.

While his Tweet was relatively short — saying: “After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka “the Widow-Maker”). If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!” His Facebook post about his heart attack was very touching and sad, as he discussed making peace with his own death having lived an incredible life, gotten to raise a family, and being happily married. It was a beautiful, odd and haunting post. You can read it in full below.
