  • It’s weird to think about an era when Donald Glover was known only as that comedy actor whose first rap album as Childish Gambino got a 1.6 from Pitchfork. Now, the actor is a living legend, this specter of cool who somehow excels at everything he undertakes — from writing and creating sitcoms, writing R&B music, and just straight up being Lando Calrissian.

Now, following an excellent New Yorker profile, at what seems like an endless ascent into the pantheon of cool, Donald Glover went onto the Late Show to talk about how “Atlanta” is less “Twin Peaks,” as some people compare it to, but more “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” because apparently being a rapper is awkward when people want you to be your personality when you’re just hanging out at the supermarket. He then showed the subtle difference between his Donald Glover face and his Childish Gambino Face. And, finally, bought Girl Scout cookies from the little girl who went viral singing along to “Redbone.” But, he didn’t just buy a couple of boxes. No — this is Donald Glover! He bought all of her cookies and passed them out to the audience.

It’s, I believe what we call, ‘good television.’
