Prince was a musician taken from us too soon, with his fans left reeling, Purple Rain blasting from every available speaker or little headphone pod that all of us could find. But still — all of Prince’s music wasn’t enough. I mean, how could it be? So, imagine the Internet’s absolute delight when Prince’s YouTube channel surprisingly released a new recording — a studio version of “Nothing Compares 2 U”.
Some background —”Nothing Compares 2 U” was a song Prince wrote for “The Family” in 1985, which Sinead O’Connor then turned into a hit in 1990. This is the first time we’ve heard a studio version of the song (accompanied by a video and all), so this is certainly an event. This studio version was recorded in the Flying Cloud Drive Warehouse in Minnesota, and for now, our hearts are filled with the Purple One’s beautiful dulcet tones. Thank you, Prince!
