  • Last year Stephen Colbert had a mini hit on his hands after he got a group of kids — that prime audience advertisers want, he explains — to write a movie that he would actually produce. The result was a cool little feature titled “Teenage War”, which is a title so perfect for a movie I’m downright jealous that a bunch of kids came up with it. Now, Colbert is back to work that kind of magic for television, when he gets a group of kids to imagine a show that they would want to watch. The result is fantastic.

We got Jason Segel playing Jeff Bridges, and appearances from John Oliver, Brooke Shields, Kathryn Hahn, Michael Shannon, Hugh Laurie, David Tennant, Willem Dafoe, Whoopi Goldberg, and an off seen hand firing a cannon. It’s charming, delightful, and you should check it out.

By the way, if you’re charmed by the idea of kids writing something that adults watch, you should definitely check out Story Pirates. It’s fun, funny, cute and they do a live stream of their shows on weekends. It’s quite fun.
