GOLDEN GLOBES: Bale Thanks Satan, Emma Stone Apologizes For Starring in ‘Aloha’ at Golden Globes

We watch the Golden Globes for a lot of strange moments, and the post modern hosting job from Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh (Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh, no less!), and this year’s awards show had several. We had the hosts give everyone in the audience flu shots, we had Maya Rudolph fake propose to Amy Poehler, but for our money, our favorite moment of the weird night was a completely unscripted one. When Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg jokes that “Crazy Rich Asians” is the first movie starring an Asian lead since “Ghost in the Shell” and “Aloha”, making fun of how the caucasian Scarlett Johansson and Emma Stone played Japanese characters in them, a lone voice in the distance shouted “I’m sorry”.

That was Emma Stone, no less! It’s exciting to see… in our more woke times, that people are kind of more aware that maybe playing someone of a race different than yours isn’t the best idea in the world. Woof. But also- yay! Good on you Emma Stone for apologizing. Take notes, huge creeps who just can’t apologize for poop and stuffing.

What else happened at the awards? Mahershala Ali won a Golden Globe, Olivia Coman won a Golden Globe, Christian Bale won a Golden Globe and THANKED SATAN for inspiring the part of Dick Cheney, which I think is pretty punk rock for a movie that’s basically a biopic of a politician. Here’s hoping there are more exciting wins on the way. Black Panther and The Favourite are in competition so that’s going to be something. Oh, and Spider-Man: Enter the Spider-Verse won “Best Animated Feature”, so I think that’s pretty cool.
