James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ To Get Three Sequels with Sigourney Weaver
Although Sigourney Weaver played the part of Grace Augustine in ‘Avatar,’ she may be set to play a different character in the new films.
Deadline Hollywood explains…
Weaver joins previously announced cast returnees Sam Worthington, Zoë Saldana and Stephen Lang. She also becomes the second star after Lang to be resurrected for the trilogies after the characters they played died in Hollywood’s highest grossing film ever.
The Wrap seems to confirm a character change.
Her character from the first film died, so James Cameron is bringing her back as a new “more challenging character” for the three upcoming sequels.
Though Today Entertainment is not so sure there’ll be a change.
Just how a dead character would resurface in the “Avatar” films isn’t clear, but Cameron told New York in 2011, “Have you ever heard of non-linear storytelling? A lot happens on that planet before she shows up, and before Jake shows up to join her. She’s there for 15 years ahead of time. I don’t know, but I wouldn’t jump to conclusions.”
