Childrens' horror classics come to the big screen this October

  • “On October 16th, you’re favorite stories are coming alive!” That’s how Sony Pictures is pitching the release of the upcoming Goosebumps film, based on R.L. Stine’s classic childrens’ horror stories. But Sony leaves off the end of that thought. The stories are coming alive. They’re coming alive to kill you. These are horror stories after all, right?

Actually, the Goosebumps trailer is giving off more of a Jumanji vibe than a straight scary movie one. But make no mistake, all of the misbegotten terrors hidden within the pages of R. L. Stine’s many books? They want to kill you. Abominable snowman? It wants to kill you. Creepy living manniquen? He wants to kill you. The crying invisible boy? He… probably wants to cry about his mom, or something. We don’t remember that one.

Starring Jack Black, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan, Ryan Lee, Jillian Bell, Goosebumps comes out October 16th.
