So Angry Birds Is A Movie Now
We live in a world where it’s simply no longer possible for a game to just be a game. It always has to become a full franchise, with merchandising and movie rights and whatever else The Powers That Be can pretend makes sense. And it’s not just games with plots that are being turned into movies anymore, like Resident Evil or Tomb Raider. No, now we get movies based on Battleship and ouija boards and…yes, Angry Birds.
Despite the fact that very few of these instances of random games being turned into even more random movies are successful (except for Clue, which will forever remain one of the greatest movies of all time), The Angry Birds Movie has officially been made, and the trailer has been released. Maybe it will be entertaining! Who knows! Sometimes relentless optimism works! But either way, just thinking about it leaves me with the theme song pounding endlessly through my head. And hopefully now you can suffer the same fate.
The Angry Birds Movie will be released on May 20, 2016. Followed by the teen slasher flick based on Words With Friends. You think you know who you’re playing against… Coming summer 2017.
