Netflix just showed the first few images from Matt Groening’s upcoming fantasy show, “Disenchantment”, as the show, starring Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon and Eric Andre, explores fantasy tropes with the same adoration and incredible humor that Matt Groening’s earlier show Futurama has.

If you’re a comedy fan of a certain age (a very great one!) then there is one artist whose style you know will lead to incredible comedy — that of Matt Groening. If designing The Simpsons, one of the most influential shows of all time, wasn’t enough, Matt Groening followed it up with the also incredibly influential on comedians and nerds alike, Futurama — the story of a trio of goons making their way through outer space.

Now, Groening is back with the first images from his new show, “Disenchantment”, showing off that famed overbite, bug eyes, and penchant for cutting commentary that fans have taken to associate with the incredible quality of his work.

Take a look at some of the images below.

The cast stars Abbi Jacobson as Princess Bean (the human), Nat Faxon as Elfo (the elf) and Eric Andre as Luci, (Princess Bean’s “personal demon”) along with the other credited performers, including a collection of Futurama talents and British comedians, Billy West, John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Dave Herman, Matt Berry, Rich Fulcher, and Noel Fielding. The series is set to premiere in August of 2018 on Netflix with the first ten episodes of its twenty episode order.

It will join such series as “Big Mouth” and “F is For Family” as a part of Netflix’s slowly expanding animated output, and should be a breath of fresh air for those fans who have been disappointed time and time again by the animated comedy output available. Remember “Son of Zorn”? That was the last attempt. It was son of Zorn. Alas!
