It’s amazing how you can win the lottery of life, beat everyone to becoming a super rich, super successful artist, and still find a way to completely screw everything up. While Nicki Minaj’s “Queen” should have been a release worthy of celebration for the beloved rapper, it instead unfolded in a series of strange call outs of Travis Scott’s album “Astroworld” for outselling her (which I guess, in Nicki Minaj’s mind, is somehow a crime). However, Scott’s album only outsold Minaj’s in North America, and I’m sure this has NOTHING to do with Nicki Minaj cancelling the North American leg of her tour.
Said Minaj, concerning the album’s two month delay: “I just simply don’t have the time to rehearse and be on the road in time to give you guys the level of a show I need to give. Jamie King and I are working tirelessly to give you guys the best show of my life, and I fully apologize, but it’ll be worth it.”

Still, we can buy the excuse, but it’s hard to. It really makes the whole thing look like sour grapes. Minaj sold so many albums she’s had the second most popular album in the United States. That’s massive. If you look at art as a competition, everyone loses.
Still, it might not just be sour grapes or delays that cancelled the North American arm of the tour. According to the New York Post’s Page Six, who is quoting an anonymous Live Nation source, low ticket sales are to blame. Said the source:
“Nicki’s tour looked to be the most disappointing ticket sales of the year for any artist. She and Future were booked in big arenas with around 20,000 capacities. Sales for opening night in Baltimore were just 2,000 tickets. LA was 3,400 – for a 17,000 capacity venue – New Orleans 1,000, Denver 1,300, Chicago 3,900. Even Nicki’s hometown of Brooklyn, the Barclays Center (which has a capacity of 19,000) sold only 5,050 tickets.”
So is Nicki Minaj’s antagonistic behavior towards, amongst other things, a baby, actually impacting her ticket sales? Is the Live Nation source spreading scurrilous rumors?
