VIDEO: Drake Responds to Pusha T With Degrassi Reunion in “I’m Upset”

So, this year has been bananas for Drake — a secret love child, a bad relationship with his father, and a photo of the subject in question wearing blackface. That was the result of Pusha T’s diss track, “The Story of Adidon“, that did as much effective work as possible into near torpedoing Drake’s reputation as a rap song imaginably could.

It was insane and the world of rap and rubberneckers alike were waiting to see what Drake’s response would be. Well, Drake, being the audience pleaser that he is, released a video for his new song that serves to get our attention away from that insane track. The song is called “I’m Upset”, which incredibly enough features a reunion of the cast of Degrassi, Drake’s fictional alma mater, and has a cameo appearance from Jay and Silent Bob.

As you can imagine, fans of Degrassi were stoked.

Folks, I feel like it worked. I feel like Drake is good now (even though he won’t take care of his fucking kid).

The lyrics and title of the song seem to hint at his feelings at Pusha T, and rather than try to fight Pusha T with a diss track of his own, Drake plays both audience-pleasing superstar and victim, with his lyrics hinting that he does pay his child support, okay? Leave him alone. He works hard.

“Got a lot of blood and it’s cold
They keep tryna get me for my soul
Thankful for the women that I know
Can’t go fifty-fifty with no ho
Every month
I’m supposed to pay her bills and get her what she want
I still got like seven years of doin’ what I want
My dad still got child support from 1991”

As for the Degrassi reunion, I imagine the whole cast is here to support Jimmy (Drake’s character), including Shane Kippel, Nina Dobrev and Miriam McDonald. Some were left out, such as Daniel Clark, and some sold the principal weed, such as Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes as their beloved characters, Quiet Man and His Friend, or as the rest of the world (who isn’t me) call them, Jay and Silent Bob.

What do you think though? Is this video enough to redeem Drake? Let us know in the comments, or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
