  • It’s been reported that Phillip Seymour Hoffman has left his estimated $35 million fortune solely to his long time partner and mother of his children, Mimi O’Donnell. It’s also been said that Hoffman actually rejected advice from his accountant to set aside money for his three children in order to prevent them from being “trust fund kids.”

  • From the New York Post:

Attorney James Cahill Jr. — appointed by a court to protect the interests of Hoffman’s children, Cooper, 10, Tallulah, 7, and Willa, 5, in his estate proceeding — recently interviewed the actor’s accountant, David Friedman.

Friedman “recalled conversations with [Hoffman] in the year before his demise where the topic of a trust was raised for the kids and summarily rejected by him,” Cahill says in the Manhattan Surrogate’s Court filing.

  • E! points out that the kids will still receive money via their mother…

David Friedman, who had advised Hoffman in financial matters, told attorney James H. Hill that the Capote star had told him as recently as one year before his death that his wishes had not changed as far as leaving all the money to Mimi, knowing she’d be raising their children with that money.
