We are in Day 2 of Tila Tequila’s Epic Flat-Earth Twitter Rant
Model/porn star Tila Tequila became famous through the weird internet culture of MySpace, and now the internet seems to have invaded her brain. And it’s amazing.
Ms. Tequila is now in her second day of an astonishing Twitter rant that’s mostly about how the Earth is flat and we’re living in a “Truman Show”-esque fantasy world, and any evidence to the contrary – photos from NASA, for example, or pictures of clouds – are faked CGI pictures posted by the government to lull us into complacency.
But not Tila Tequila. Tila Tequila knows all.
You really need to just scroll through her feed yourself to grasp the awesomeness. At one point she said that she already died once and been brought back as a clone (or a cyborg? it’s hard to keep it all straight) and now she can control things with her mind and stuff. There are moments where she’s almost making sense (“What is so wrong about being an anti-social pessimist? That is what’s wrong with humans. Always gotta pretend fake happy”) and then it spirals into batshittery again (“My tweets can bring people back from the dead”).
NY Magazine has more on the Flat Earth movement, if you’d like to fall into that particular rabbit hole:
Being a Flat Earther exists in the same online space as chemtrails and the notion that 9/11 was an inside job: There are some who believe it sincerely, and magnitudes more who entertain the notion ironically. Conspiracy theories are very funny once you lean into them! Imagine finding out that a basic assumption about your life is completely wrong. It’s liberating, in a way. If nothing else, it gives you something to talk about.
