  • You know an interview with Channing Tatum is going well when it starts with the interviewer announcing he’s about to leave his wife for her.

The new YouTube talk show “Speechless with Carly Fleischmann” has quite a big get for their first episode, but more importantly it highlights the career of Carly, a determined young woman who was diagnosed with autism and oral-motor apraxia when she was a toddler.

Unable to speak, she was essentially trapped in her own body until she figured out how to use her computer to communicate. Now her world has opened up, and she’s set out to become the world’s first autistic and nonverbal talk show host.

Channing proved to be as charming and compassionate as we all want to believe he is, cracking up at Carly’s jokes and gamely playing along as she asked him (via text-to-voice on a tablet) if it was difficult being so good looking and what he used to do when he snuck out of the house when he was a kid.

“I know you were a stripper growing up,” she asked at one point. “How many girls at the end of your night would you take home?”

Later on she admitted, “One of the hardest and scariest moments of my life is sitting next to you and waiting to find out if my dream of being a talk show host is going to turn into a reality.”
