Leslie Jones Owns Her Trolls at the Emmys
Leave it to comedian Leslie Jones to turn her Twitter trolls into a punchline at the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards.
It’s been a rough few months for the “Saturday Night Live” star — first a wave of Twitter racism over her role in “Ghostbusters,” and then a disgusting invasion of privacy after someone hacked into her phone and posted personal information and nude pictures on her website.
But Jones wasn’t going to let that stop her. Striding onto the Emmys stage in a custom-tailored blue Christian Siriano jumpsuit, she took over the segment about awards show accountants with a running gag about cyber security.
“Since you’re so good at keeping things safe I’ve got a job for you — my Twitter account! Put that in the vault, please!” she said. “Y’all over here using your skills to protect Best Voiceover in a French Sitcom. Meanwhile I’m butt naked on CNN! I just wanted to feel beautiful, y’all! Can a sister feel beautiful?”
She then offered her arm to the flustered-looking accountants and marched offstage, like the queen she is.
While we’re at it, can we appreciate her reaction to SNL and “Ghostbusters” co-star Kate McKinnon winning her first Emmy?
