  • While we had Evangeline Lilly on the Nerd HQ stage at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 to chat about her new children’s book, “The Squickerwonkers,” we also opened up the floor for fan questions about all things related to “The Hobbit 2.”

“I didn’t dream about being in a Peter Jackson film but I did dream about being an elf,” she reveals to one fan. “And it turned out that being in a Peter Jackson film was better than the experience of being an elf. And being an elf is f***ing outrageously great, obviously.”

She adds of working with the famed “Hobbit” director, “He has an incredible sense of humor and is the kindest, warmest person.”

We also had to ask her about her recent video that went viral, featuring Orlando Bloom, Lee Pace, and herself on the “Hobbit 2” set watching two fans’ reaction video to the  new”Desolation of Smaug” trailer.

“I was so anti-social media about two years ago,” Lilly says. But now she thanks her manager for convincing her about the perks of being present on social networks. “That video is a prime example of how beautiful the Internet can make communities.

She explains that one of the producers showed them the video and they started freaking out. “One of the Weta Workshop weapons guys just said, ‘You have to film what I just saw.'” The rest is viral Internet history!
