Three Theories to Explain Why Trump and Pence Moved Their Water Bottles

It’s the double water move that has even conspiracy theorists stumped. Both President Trump and Vice President Pence met with the National Response Coordination Center at FEMA to talk about disaster preparedness and the response to last year’s Hurricane Harvey. One moment, in particular, made the Internet go — huh?

While listening to someone talk, Trump moves his water bottle to the floor, and then Pence immediately follows suit. The video was widely shared on Twitter and Reddit, and it inspired observations like: “There was zero hesitation from Pence. It’s like they rehearsed it”, and “Pence is definitely winning The Apprentice.”

Once everyone was done laughing at the sheer absurdity of it all, the theories started rolling through. Of course, the most reasonable explanation was pointed out by several commenters, but we’re going to go with this one by Reddit user u/JewBoxHero, who writes: “If I had to guess, I’d say they were getting ready for a photo. Move the water bottles down just to make things look more professional. Makes for a cleaner looking picture.”

Fine. I guess it’s just super innocuous and there are no crazy conspiracies behind it whatsoever.

But even if that is the case, it still makes Pence look like a completely mindless lackey. Especially when you consider that Melania (who’s back and fine) leaves her water bottle right where it is.

What do you guys think? Did they move their water bottles for a photo op or is something more nefarious at play? Let us know in the comments, or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
