A TikToker claims that while she was looking for the ghost of Elisa Lam, they heard something paranormal call out her name. After Netflix released a documentary on her case, more and more people are looking into the ‘haunted’ Cecil Hotel.
The Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles is known for its serial killer guests, suicides, murders, and of course the infamous case of Elisa Lam’s death back in 2013.
The TikToker’s Experience
Kris Star is a TikToker and Youtuber with over 200,000 followers. Most of her content is about paranormal places and things. She went to visit the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles with a group of her friends to look for the ghost of Elisa Lam.
She has posted three videos on TikTok about her experience at the hotel as well as a YouTube video on her channel. Star gave a tour inside the room Elisa Lam stayed on TikTok which went viral on Wednesday. Lam stay in room 506 where Kris Star claimed she heard noises. The room is completely empty. She explained that the elevator door would go off by itself when no one else was around to call it.

In the video, she prompts people to go watch her entire experience on her Youtube channel but previews a voice saying the name Elisa Lam on a device called Spirit Box. Spirit Box is used by ghost hunters to contact paranormal beings through the radio frequencies. However, Star was using a spirit box app on her phone.
The hotel is undergoing renovations that have been going on since 2017. Star was able to get access to the hotel because her friend had a connection that allowed them to come in.

Elisa Lam was a 21-year-old student from the University of British Columbia. She went on a trip to Los Angeles, California in 2013. She would call home every day and when she missed a call home her parents got worried and reported her missing in early February.
Her family flew into California to look for their daughter and after a news conference, the case quickly caught the attention of hundreds of thousands of people. Police searched the hotel but there was no sign of Elisa Lam.
The police even brought in police search dogs all over the hotel but nothing was found. It wasn’t until reports of problems with the hotel’s water system that they ended up finding Elisa’s body.
A video of Elisa Lam in the hotel elevator was put on Youtube where many people were confused by Lam’s actions. Her bizarre behavior had people questioning what exactly happened to her.
There were complaints of no water pressure and the water would run black at times. Some people even noted that the taste of the water was something they simply couldn’t describe but it wasn’t good.
“The shower was awful,” Sabina Baugh a British guest who stayed at the hotel during the same time had said. “When you turned the tap on, the water was coming black first for two seconds, and then it was going back to normal.”
When asked about the water she described it as, “a very funny, sweety, disgusting taste. It’s a very strange taste. I can barely describe it.”
After more complaints, the hotel had sent a worker to look into the problem. The worker went on the roof where the water tanks were. When he checked the tank, he saw Elisa Lam’s body floating in the water. Her clothes were at the bottom of the tank and she was faced down floating at the top.
Elisa Lam’s decomposing body was inside the water tank for as long as 19 days before it was discovered. This meant that guests were brushing their teeth, showering, and drinking the same water Elisa Lam’s dead body was in. It was a very unsettling discovery.
After police had finally discovered her body, the only question was how did Elisa Lam die?
