Surprise Kanye Show Causes Chaos
Kendrick Lamar once rapped, “I’m the only one next to Snoop that can push the button.” Well, GUESS WHAT, KENDRICK? Kanye West hasn’t lost his button-pushing privileges yet.
After the entire final day of New York hip-hop festival Governor’s Ball was rained out, including Kanye’s headlining performance, Yeezus decided the good people of NYC still deserved a show. A free show. At 2 am. With no planning. Do you see how this could’ve gone wrong?
Go wrong it did, reports The Verge. Hundreds of ‘Ye stans (that’s “Kanye West super fans”, for those of you who don’t keep up with the hippity-hop) flooded the streets outside of Webster Hall, pushing and shoving to get in.
To Kanye’s credit, he did try to contain the madness. First, he tweeted that the show was “sold out,” even though it was free and there were no tickets. Then he tried to call New York City mayor Bill DeBlasio and get him to close off the streets around Webster Hall, as his wife Kim Kardashian reported on Snapchat. And finally, he made the wise decision to call the whole thing off before the streets ran red with blood. (Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries.)
What do you think? Was Kanye irresponsible in making the initial announcement, or was he just trying to give something back to the fans? Let us know in the comments or at @WhatsTrending on Twitter!
