You Might Have Free Concert Tickets From Ticketmaster
It turns out that all the pain of Ticketmaster’s “excessive and deceptive” fees might yet turn out to be worth it. (Too bad it’s too late for that girl who bought Beyonce tickets instead of paying rent.) CNN reports that, after 13 years of litigation, Ticketmaster is finally issuing vouchers to people who paid unnecessary fees when purchasing tickets from the site.
If you bought tickets from Ticketmaster between October 1999 and February 2013, there’s a good chance you paid an “Order Processing Fee.” Those fees were supposed to be refunded. Many of them never were. In a settlement to the class action lawsuit brought against Ticketmaster over these fees, Ticketmaster’s parent company Live Nation agreed last April to issue $45 million worth of cash, discounts, and tickets to customers covered by the suit.
Now, there’s a massive disclaimer to all of this, which is that Live Nation has “sole discretion” to determine which events are eligible for these vouchers. They might be mostly 4 am Yanni shows in Azerbaijan. So don’t get your hopes too high that the extra $3.95 in fees you paid Ticketmaster for that Wiggles show in 2002 will somehow turn into Kanye tickets. This website is the home of the list of events Live Nation deems “eligible.” (I don’t know about you guys, but I’m pretty excited to see that there is literally only one show near What’s Trending HQ in Southern California, and it’s Blink-182.)
All that said, here’s how to claim your vouchers: 1. Log in to Ticketmaster.com, 2. Click “active vouchers” on the side panel, 3. ???, 4. Profit! Go check for vouchers now!
