  • Japanese comedian Pico Taro has released a new video called “Pen Pineapple Apple Pen”. It’s gotten popular and I can’t… why? If you want a funny Japanese video that actually makes sense, here’s guys doing ping pong tricks.

Taro, known for his weird singing and dancing shenanigans, has built a reputation amongst deep YouTubers. He’s also an absurdist comedian.

Here’s the original video from his YouTube channel:

  • In the video, Taro only uses six words (I, have, a, pen, pineapple, apple) but he uses those six words to the fullest. The rhythm is catchy in the video, and the song is one, because of its simplicity, that really gets stuck in your head. (If you want to get it out of your head, studies have been done that have proven you just need to put another one there instead.)

Taro really sells the idea of just sticking a pen into either a pineapple (called ananas in the entire rest of the world) or an apple and just having a pen-pineapple or a pen-apple.

Does this make any sense? Of course it doesn’t. But MAN is it catchy.
