Tobuscus Talks New Game “AcroWars,” Sam Pepper and Why Prison is Disgusting
Have a conversation with Toby Turner aka Tobuscus, and you could end up talking about literally anything – as we confirmed in last week’s What’s Trending Podcast.
He had a lot to say about Sam Pepper’s recent prank, in which he appears to trick Viner Sam Golbach into thinking his best friend Colby Brock had been murdered in front of him.
“I think he wants to be offensive and he wants to stand out. It sucks, because that’s what you have to do – you have to be edgy. But he’s like ‘I’m going to take this as far as I possibly can.’ […] How can he go further than that?”
A discussion about a man reacting to the modern world after 44 years in prison sparked a huge debate about the U.S. prison system.
“My uncle was actually a warden for 30 years, and over his time as a warden, 30% of the prisoners that he saw go into prison were actually innocent,” Toby said. “And overall, in the world, 30% is kind of a normal number.”
Another relative of his went to prison after being wrongly accused of murdering his wife. “His daughter witnessed someone else kill his wife. He came home afterwards, and she testified, but she was nine, she wasn’t old enough. So she watched her mom get killed, and her dad went to prison for 40 years. America’s prison system is horrible.”
On a lighter note, he told us about his latest game Acrowars, which comes out this week.
“You make your own acronyms based on letters that are randomly generated. It’s awesome, it’s so fun. Whoever makes the funniest acronym, you join a room of six people and they vote on which one’s the funniest. A lot of very inappropriate acronyms happen.”
Basically, it’s like a digital version of “Cards Against Humanity,” he said. “I’ve never laughed so hard.”
