Brexit, or the UK’s recent exit from the European Union, is a harshly divisive subject. Think of it as Europe’s version of gun control, except instead of hoping sitting will fix the problem, they actually voted on it.
I’m not going to pretend that I have nearly enough information to take a fully educated position on it, so I’ll just stick to the facts. The UK voters’ decision to leave the EU has sent global markets — especially the UK’s — into a panic, with the pound sterling losing 10% of its value within a day of the results. So, however you feel about UK politics, you can at least understand that this is a very scary and emotional time for a huge swath of the world right now.
But good news, panicked people of the world! A light has shone out from the Prime Minister’s house at 10 Downing St., and it is a cat named Larry.
While the media stood outside 10 Downing St. waiting for Prime Minister David Cameron to come out and tell them how doomed they all are, Larry, the official Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office of the UK, decided to crash the party. Here’s the photo that drove Twitter into a fluffy frenzy:
