During last night’s Republican presidential debate, Texas Governor Rick Perry had a embarrassingly blank moment on the small screen when he couldn’t name all three of the government agencies he would dispose of if given the opportunity.
“And I will tell you, it’s three agencies of government, when I get there, that are gone,” he said boldly. “Commerce, Education, and the — what’s the third one there? Let’s see.” After turning to Ron Paul for help he still wasn’t able to deliver. “Commerce and, let’s see. I can’t. The third one, I can’t. Sorry. Oops,” he said.
At one point, Perry jokingly said the agency name he was searching for was the EPA. Co-moderator John Harwood, a veteran journalist for The New York Times and CNBC, questions the candidate. “Seriously? Is EPA the one you were talking about?” he asked Perry, who replied with a no. “You can’t name the third one?” Harwood again said.
Several minutes later, Perry clarified that the missing link to his grand plan was the Department of Energy.
