Occupy D.C. Demonstrators Still Holding Their Ground
Occupy demonstrators in Washington D.C. are in a standoff with police, while refusing to adhere to anti-camping regulations, based on hygiene factors. The regulations, which were not highly enforced back in October, are now top priority for the National Park Service. During the eviction that started over the weekend, protestors voiced concern about the way they were being treated by authorities when a member of the movement was tasered.
On Sunday, Washington Post’s Margaret Fazeli Fard, who is stationed at McPherson Square tweeted, “Graffiti covers many of the eviction notices posted around the square: ‘Not happening’ and ‘F*** off’ are scribbled on the notices.”
