Chris Cornell Covers ‘I Will Always Love You’

  • After her untimely death on Feb. 11, there were dozens of artist who paid tribute to Whitney Houston by performing her music. But one of the most unexpected covers came by way of a former grunge rocker.

Former lead singer of Soundgarden Chris Cornell greeted guests at a fundraiser for President Barack Obama at the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco on Feb. 16 with a gritty cover of one of Houston’s signature songs, “I Will Always Love You.”

“I’m going to one more; I just learned this, so if I mess this up, just forgive me,” he told the audience, before crooning the 1990s classic with an acoustic guitar.
