Twitter Celebrates LA Kings’ Historic Stanley Cup Victory
At the Staples Center on Monday, the Kings became the second eighth-seeded hockey team to take the grand title after beating the New Jersey Devils 6-1 in the sixth game. With teamwork and the recognized efforts of playoff MVP goalie, Jonathan Quick and a power play by captain Dustin Brown, Jeff Carter and Trevor Lewis, the team quickly picked up speed, pulling themselves within reach of the coveted Stanley Cup.
Upon the announcement of the victory, Brown snatched the Stanley Cup from Commissioner Gary Bettman and lifted it over its head towards the audience. Despite the weight of that thing, he was lifting a 45 year legacy off of his shoulders, showcasing the prize for his fans.
Meanwhile, Twitter was abuzz with excitement and congratulations:
If the Kings playoff run didn’t inspire all hockey players out there I don’t know what will. Congrats LA. Well deserved.
