This New Duck Tales Cast Is Ridiculous

  • We all know Scrooge McDuck is the richest duck in Duckburg, but is that how he could afford so many darn stars?

In this new video from Disney we see some of the new actors for the Duck Tales reboot coming from Disney XD in 2017 singing the classic theme song, and it is surprising.

We have Community’s Danny Pudi as Huey, Parks and Recreation’s Ben Schwartz as Dewey, SNL‘s David S. Pumpkins Skeleton Bobby Moynihan as Louie — the three identical triplets who accompany Scrooge on his adventures. Kate Micucci of Garfunkel and Oates comes in as Webby Webbigale, and Castle‘s Toks Olagundoye comes in as Mrs. Beakley, with SNL‘s Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack, Scrooge McDuck’s dim witted pilot.

Yet who plays the crown jewel of talking duck roles, Scrooge McDuck himself? Who is grand enough, adventurous enough and simply has the pure Scottish chops to play a rich duck who — among other things — goes to the moon to find a moon diamond!?

The answer is the one and only David Tennant, the old Dr. Who himself! I know both Dr. Who and Scrooge are globe trotting adventurers, but I still can’t believe it! There are still uncast roles to fill! Who will be Gizmoduck!? The Beagle Boys!? The villainous Flintheart Glomgold!? How about Kate MacKinnon as Magica DeSpell? Would that work?

Of course, we can’t go without remembering Alan Young, the man who voiced Scrooge in everything from Duck Tales to the Disney cross-over video game Kingdom Hearts from 1974 until he passed away in 2016. In the spirit of the season, here he is in Mickey’s Christmas Carol.
