  • The Office hasn’t aired original episodes since 2013, but the show has maintained a steady following in the four years since we said goodbye to our favorite paper-pushers in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Now, NBC is considering a reboot of the sitcom, following the success of their recent revitalization of Will & Grace. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has an open invitation to Greg Daniels, who developed the American version of Ricky Gervais’ BBC original, to bring The Office back for at least another season.

Reportedly, the new season would bring back old characters and introduce new ones. Steve Carell is virtually certain to NOT return, as he is, y’know, busy being a movie star these days. You’d have to wonder the same about John Krasinski, the heart of the original run of The Office, who has also been making his attempts at becoming Chris Pratt 2.0 (in the sense that he’s now absurdly, uncomfortably buff).

At the moment, these are only rumors and whispers among industry insiders, but the trend of bringing back beloved old TV shows isn’t likely to stop anytime soon. ABC is bringing back Roseanne, Netflix is already two seasons into Fuller House, and as of this writing, I just sold a script to bring back ALF for a gritty reboot. Okay that last thing isn’t true but it should be.

What do you think about returning to The Office? Should they recast Michael Scott, or simply bring in a new boss character? Which characters should they bring back? And what the hell has Creed been up to in the time off? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending!
