UK Department Store Accused of Sexism Over Christmas Window Display

Popular UK department store, Marks and Spencer, dressed their windows appropriately for the holidays. From Christmas trees to gifts to give to your loved ones, they had it near enough perfect to entice the public into their store. We say near enough perfect, because they made one huge mistake…

Seriously? You would’ve thought by 2018 that the whole idea of ‘women should be sexy’ and ‘men should be professional’ would be scrapped? Many people noticed how the advertisement poses traditions from the 50’s, where men would go to work all day and then they’d come home to a cooked meal by their wife, who would be dressed up just waiting for their husband to come home. It’s so old, and so not what women are about nowadays. Get with the times, people!

If you don’t know what Marks and Spencer stores are like, their stores are usually filled with those who are about 50+, so if someone of that age dressed the window, then we can see their misunderstanding, but whoever authorised this and thought that this would be a good idea, must have lost the plot a little…

However, people who have also passed the store have debunked this bad marketing strategy, and revealed that on the other side, there was in fact a professional woman’s wear section…

And despite someone mentioning how although it’s great that they’ve balanced the ‘professional’ section, the ‘sexy’ section for men, seems to have disappeared off Marks and Spencer’s agenda. Although, photos of balls in boxers aren’t always the nicest things to look at when you’re shopping for stocking fillers…

Although there are different viewpoints on the matter, there is no equality shown, which is the biggest issue women face today. Marks and Spencer, do better.
