  • Football-star-turned-meme, Tim Tebow, hinted at a possible political run during his lifetime, as shown in a recent video interview posted by Politico. Tebow told Golf Channels’ David Feherty, ““For me, it could be something in my future.”

While his candidacy isn’t happening anytime soon, contemporary America does have a history electing sports legends. The notoriously football crazed Nebraskans elected former Husker head coach William “Tom” Osborne to congress in a landslide victory (83% of the vote!).

Tebow’s name has been bantered around on the presidential circuit, with Rick Perry declaring that, “I hope I am the Tim Tebow of the Iowa Cacuses.” (yes, Perry did say the plural of “caucus” ).

  • Other famous stars have also been elected to high office, such as Jesse “The Body” Ventura, who was elected Governor of Minnesota in 1999. And, of course, former actor Ronald Reagan was elected to the presidency twice, and is still hailed as a star in the Republican party (Republican Candidate Newt Gingrich referenced his name 55 times in past debates).

If Tebow ran, would you vote for him? More importantly, would you care which party he was associated with?
