  • In partnership with Internet Explorer and the interactive storytellers at Digital Kitchen, Jasmine Villegas is inviting fans to immerse themselves in her music by becoming a part of the new video for her hit song, “Just a Friend.”

Fans can access an unprecedented level of audience engagement by logging into JustaFriend.ie with their Facebook accounts and viewing the video — which features all new footage and a completely revamped, remixed version of the song. Basically, every unique viewer has the opportunity to influence the outcome of the video’s storyline and even see their own Facebook photos throughout the video, making it feel as if they’re hanging out with Jasmine herself.

But the interactive experience doesn’t stop there. After watching the video, fans can dial their own number from her phone on the site to have a brief “conversation” with her, based on what they did during the video.

Interacting with fans should be a crucial part of any musician’s career, and Jasmine has proven that it’s been essential to hers. Since she came on the scene, she’s been dedicated to building a following through YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. In 2011, Klout even named her the No. 9 most influential musician and the No. 8 top woman on Twitter.

Most impressively, Jasmine’s new project offers a significant taste of how technology can change the way musicians interact with their fans and construct impressive and engaging, virtual experiences for audiences.

Back in September, Jasmine rocked the What’s Trending studio with her new hit single, “Just a Friend”:
