James Charles just moved into a new house and now he’s telling fans to stop showing up and invading his privacy.

James Charles is a beauty blogger and makeup entrepreneur who counts over 11M subscribers on his YouTube channel. But like with any famous person, some of James’s fans are mistaking his open internet personality with an open invitation for them to access him in real life.

He took to twitter to set the record straight after an incident this weekend.

He tweeted, “please stop showing up at my house. i will not hug you, i will not take a photo with you, and i absolutely will not sign your palette. it is extremely disrespectful & makes me feel very unsafe in my own home. respect people’s privacy, it’s really not that hard.”

Tons of fans and friends commented…

But James is not the first YouTube creator who has dealt with this scary problem. Popular comedian Jenna Marbles had a few scary incidents. In a video titled Don’t Come to Our House, house mate Julien Solomita begged fans to respect their privacy.

Julien explains that coming to a YouTuber’s house is an invasion of privacy, especially when there are lot of other appropriate ways fans can connect with them.

Fans have notoriously flocked outside of the Team 10 House, where popular creators like Jake Paul live.

Team 10-er Alyssa violet even invited James Charles to come live in the Clout house. And while many YouTubers are experiencing this sensation for the first time, celebs have been dealing with this from the beginning.

Many fans feel like they can go to celebrities homes in hopes of meeting them in person. Heck, there’s even an entire Hollywood Homes bus tour where people can pay to be driven through the hills and stop by celebrity homes.

While a lot of fans are coming to James’ defense, others are claiming that these kinds of incidents come with the territory

Like Krissy who said “Your frustration is completely understandable but don’t forget who got you to where you are. It’s those same people who will keep you going or ruin you. You have them to thank for where you’re living and what you’re driving. It comes with the territory kid.”

Lizzi added “People who are saying “you chose this life” are part of the problem. Taking pictures & signing palettes is obvs fine any other time. He’s meant to feel safe in the comfort of his own home, not feel like his life is possibly at risk. Some of you guys need to chill. #YSOTP”

There are a lot of cases where breach of privacy turns into a scary breach of security. The Bling Ring as made popular by the 2013 Sophia Coppola film was an infamous group of seven teenagers who broke into celebrities homes between 2008 and 2009, resulting in thefts of possessions amounting $3 million dollars.

Famous burglaries include Paris Hilton. Audrina Partridge, Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, Megan Fox and Lindsey Lohan.
