A video posted by Kevin Bumstead shows him challenging his 17 year old son Jake and nephew Kyle to dial a phone number in four minutes using a rotary phone. The video now has over 26 million views

Bumstead told the Daily Mail he got the idea from a video he saw on YouTube: ‘I saw a video similar on YouTube and I thought it would be funny to see how my kids and their cousins handled this challenge at Christmas. So I divided them up by age group (24, 22, 22) (19 & 19) these 2 (17 & 17) and (14 and 12) and gave them the phone number and 4 min to dial the phone. These two were the most entertaining and they took the longest and sort of figured it out.’

Bumstead did not specify which YouTube video he saw…but there’s a chance it was a video titled “Kids React to Rotary Phones”.

:Parents everywhere have copied the prank, getting a good laugh from the younger generation. But for generations born after the cell phone was invented how are they supposed to know?

So, here’s a quick lesson in case someone tries to prank you!

First, pick up the phone so you can hear the dial tone and make sure it’s connected. Then, take your finger into the number you want to dial and rotate around until your finger hits the finger stop. Then, remove your finger and let the dial go back by itself.
