6-Year-Old YouTuber Makes $11 Million Reviewing Toys
This is 6-year-old Ryan from the YouTube channel Ryan ToyReviews. He plays with toys and reviews them for other kids, along with the help of his mom and dad. The reason he’s in the news is that he’s on Forbes’ list of the highest paid YouTube stars of 2017.
Ryan’s channel earned $11 million this year alone! That’s only 8th place on Forbes’ list, but Ryan stands out from other, more recognizable members of the Top 10 like Jake and Logan Paul, Smosh, and PewDiePie.
Ryan started his channel in 2015 when he was only four years old and had 1 million subscribers in January 2016. Impressive, but not world-shattering. His channel has exploded over the last two years, with videos like “HUGE POWER WHEELS COLLECTIONS Ride On Cars for Kids Compilations Part 2 Disney Cars Paw Patrol” earning tens of millions of views.
According to TubeFilter, his was the most watched YouTube channel in the United States for forty weeks in a row in June 2017. Today, Ryan has 10 million subscribers and his videos together had over 8 billion views over the last 12 months. That’s near twice as many views as the year’s most single viewed video, Despacito.
But, Ryan’s part of the Billion Views Club as well. His most popular video, “Huge Eggs Surprise Toys Challenge,” has been viewed 1 billion, 34 million times. So, what is it about Ryan? Why do people love him so much?
Earlier this year, we told you about how PewDiePie accused Ryan’s family of exploiting him and alleging that most of his billions of views are from bots. This is the subject of some debate. Some people believe that Ryan’s massive number of views, but relatively low engagement, is evidence of viewbotting. But others explain that children, Ryan’s primary viewers, watch the videos over and over again, but are unlikely to comment.
Either way, you know what isn’t fake? $11 million baby! Ryan’s got himself some college money with plenty leftover for a new G-wagon!
Regardless of where those views are coming from, Ryan looks like a sweet little kid who gets to have so much fun.
