PewDiePie Says He Will Delete His YouTube Channel

  • Nearly two years ago, Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg came to the shocking revelation that YouTube is broken. Tell us something we don’t know… am I right? Fast forward to the end of 2016, and… Mr. Kjellberg is still annoyed with YouTube’s algorithm! So annoyed, in fact, that he’s ready to delete his channel when it hits 50 million subscribers (assuming it does).

PewDiePie isn’t the only one feeling this way. A handful of other creators on the site have expressed their frustration with the site as they’ve noticed both video views and subscribers decline. Here’s a quote from PewDiePie expressing his frustration, in case the video (or channel) gets deleted:

“When I was doing the daily vlogs I noticed how really poorly they performed. I was really surprised by this because generally vlogs do really well… but I noticed some videos didn’t even get 2 million views.”

Dang. It must suck to ONLY get 2 million views.

Okay, all jokes aside. That actually makes sense for his channel. Having nearly 50 million subscribers, he hasn’t seen anything less than 2 million views in the past 4 years.

To make up for the low performance of some videos, Felix states that he resorted to clickbait, but that still didn’t do him any good. Why should he put in so much effort if his subscribers are not going to be notified of new videos? Those are his thoughts exactly.

According to YouTube, there’s no problem with subscription services, but PewDiePie is over it:

“I will delete my channel once [it] hits 50 million. It think it’s going to be pretty fun. I’m excited to delete my channel and start fresh with a new sh*tty channel probably. I won’t quit YouTube, I’ll just delete the channel.”

There you have it. PewDiePie may not be happy with YouTube, but he’s not calling it quits yet. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if this new channel of his works out any better.
