109 Movies Sing Green Day’s “Basket Case”

  • It’s been awhile since they began circulating, but videos of a bunch of different words and phrases cut together to emulate a popular song still do quite well on YouTube. Presumably because it’s not oversaturated with them since they undoubtedly take at least 60 years each to make.

    The latest one to start doing the rounds brings back a song most of us probably haven’t heard since sometime in the ’90s — Green Day’s “Basket Case.” This video not only has the nostalgia down, but it also impresses by taking clips from 109 different movies. And quite a variety, too. Regardless of whether you like these types of videos or not (and I do), you’ve got to appreciate the time and effort that goes into making them.

    At least movies are digital now. Can you imagine someone trying to make one of these videos by cutting scenes together from VHS tapes? Actually, I’d like to see that. YouTube, you have a new challenge.
