McDonald’s Forgets How Dumb The Internet Is After Allowing Customers To Name Their Burgers
It took less than 24 hours for the internet to quickly ruin a McDonald’s experiment in which sandwich artisans could make their own creations.
McDonald’s launched an online campaign in New Zealand where fast food lovers could customize their own sandwich and name it. In exchange for a potentially delicious recipe franchises would award creators with a coupon for a free french fry and a soft drink.
It took no time for all of the internet to invade and create abominations which were unfortunately featured on the front page of the creation site. Apparently even the word filters didn’t stop the ability for creative geniuses from figuring out how to make the most offensive burgers possible.
How McDonald’s didn’t foresee the possible ramifications of this campaign is beyond us. How did the PR for the company completely fail to intimate that the internet is a cruel, cold, place filled with people who named a freaking boat “Boaty McBoatface.”
